Loki season 2 gets a disheartening release date update

Marvel fans are ready for Loki season 2 but it seems that they may have to wait a bit longer than anticipated.

Loki has found himself back at the heart of the pop culture conversations again recently. If you’re a Marvel fan, you’ll know why. The second season of his self-titled Disney Plus series is coming out on the streamer this year, and it’s safe to say hopes are high.

Not only was the first season of Loki a resounding success, it set the stage for what the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga would become. To revisit it now that we’re actually in the heart of that storyline is just all too exciting, especially since Kang the Conqueror has made his presence felt in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

It’s been relatively quiet on the Loki front lately, and that’s because it’s been relatively quiet on the Disney Plus front as far as Marvel is concerned. However, a new update suggests that we might have to wait a bit longer for Loki‘s planned release.

Loki season 2 release date updates

According to Bespin Bulletin, Loki season 2 will now premiere on Disney Plus “much later in the summer”.

If you recall, Kevin Feige initially confirmed that the series would return for its second season in “summer 2023”, with the graphic suggesting it would release after fellow summer series Echo. However, with Echo seemingly moving out of its summer window to a potential 2024 release, fans had hoped Loki season 2 might premiere earlier.

Unfortunately, it seems that won’t be the case, as Marvel continues to reshape its release strategy, opting for a “less is more” approach in Phase Five, spacing out its releases after the divisive response to some of the titles in Phase Four and the sheer volume of shows and movies. Loki is one of the lucky few that will air this year, but while the first season had a clear release window for some time before it actually premiered, things remain up in the air as to when we can expect any of the 2023 Disney Plus shows.

Right now, we can still expect Loki season 2 in the summer… just a bit later than we had all hoped.
