Alicia Vikander

Alicia Vikander played Lara Croft in the 2018 Tomb Raider. A movie that should be talked about more than it is. It’s a shame that she didn’t get a chance at a sequel. Before playing Croft, she took her training seriously (you can see an example above). Alicia sculpted her body and put herself in the right shape to become Lara Croft. If she’s willing to put in the work for Tomb Raider, there’s no reason she wouldn’t do the same for The Last of Us season 2 if she were cast as Abby.

Alicia Vikander has a slim build but can look intimidating. She did so a few times in Tomb Raider. She also showed off her acting skills as Ava in Ex Machina. At 34 years old, she’s quite a bit older than Abby is in the game, but good thing is she can play younger. Also, Abby’s age doesn’t need to be defined. If the show wants to have her be a little older, it could easily work.

Melissa Benoist

Melissa Benoist was this writer’s first thought. Her portrayal of Supergirl was one of the best adaptations of a comic book character. Even if you’ve only seen clips, you’d notice that Melissa’s Kara Zor-El could be believable when being threatening. Sure, having superhuman powers helps, but it’s not the only thing. Melissa needed to look the part as the Girl of Steel as well – and she really did.

Casting Melissa Benoist as Abby would be a great move post Supergirl. It also helps that Warner Bros is familiar with her work, with the star now leading HBO Max’s The Girls on the Bus and recently renewing her overall deal with Warner.

Plus, she stands at 5 feet 8 inches and would be capable of towering over Ellie like Abby does.
