Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be one of March’s biggest releases, but is it suitable for family viewing? Here is Shazam 2’s age rating and what it means.

Billy Batson and his found family of superheroes are back, and ready for another adventure. But they might not be as ready as they think they are when they find out who they are up against.

The Daughters of Atlas have arrived, and they want their powers back. As a result, Billy and his family are going to have to say the magic word to give them the power to stop the threat before them in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Released in 2019, the first Shazam! movie was a hidden gem for the DC Extended Universe that was a refreshing joy among too many grim movies. The second is shaping up to be the same, but with the future of the DCEU up in the air, it’s hard to know what to expect from any of it.

That said, we can tell you some of what to expect. So if you’re planning on seeing Shazam 2 this weekend with the family and want to know if it’s suitable, here’s what you can expect from the DC blockbuster.

Shazam 2 age rating

Shazam! Fury of the Gods has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA for sequences of action, language and violence.

That probably sounds quite daunting, but the truth is that this is the same age rating that the vast majority of DC and Marvel superhero movies receive and they are, more often than not, extremely suitable for the whole family to watch. Moreover, it’s also the same age rating that Shazam! received back in 2019, so if your kids enjoyed that movie, then it’s highly likely they will enjoy this one.

Shazam is one of DC’s most light-hearted superheroes and that definitely came across in the first Zachary Levi-led movie. The second one looks every bit as fun and charming, so it seems like it will be taking its cues from its enjoyable predecessor.

As always, it’s best to be sure and no one knows your kids better than you. So if you’re unsure about whether Shazam 2 and its giant dragon would be the right choice for your children, it’s probably best to see the movie first so that you can decide for yourself.
