Riverdale seasons ranked
Riverdale has officially come to an end on The CW. The series returned for its seventh and final season on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. The final season ran for 20 episodes through Aug. 23. To celebrate one of the best teen shows of the last decade, we ranked all seven seasons of Riverdale from worst to best.
The series premiered on The CW in January 2017. While ratings were low to start, the first season hit Netflix and absolutely exploded. More than two million people tuned in for season 2, which basically doubled viewership from season 1. It’s been an absolute roller coaster ride for this show, too.
You can now watch all seven seasons of Riverdale on Netflix. If you fell behind, it’s a great chance to catch up and watch all of these good episodes.
Without further ado, let’s get the ranking of the Riverdale season started with the worst season so far, Riverdale season 6.
7. Riverdale season 6
Sadly, there’s no doubt that Riverdale season 6 is the worst season of Riverdale so far, and it hurts to say that. It’s obvious that the writers and creative team are working so hard to find what works after reinventing the show post-season 4, but season 6 just did not live up to the expectations of fans. The cast is still great, but the story just didn’t get there.
That doesn’t mean that Riverdale season 6 was all bad, though! There were some great moments.
I really like the chance they took to start the season with Rivervale, the five-episode alternate reality spinoff of sorts. It was a fun break of the monotony of season 5 and a boring story. We also got the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina cameo we’d been waiting for when Kiernan Shipka, who played Sabrina Spellman, joined the cast for an episode in season 6.
Overall, though, this season just didn’t do it for me. It was pretty clear as season 6 was going on that this show had nearly run its course. Then, in the Riverdale season 6 finale, things go completely bonkers, and the gang is transported somehow back to the 1950s, the place where the show wanted to exist all along! What a twist. Riverdale season 7 was really interesting, though!
And, now, let’s get to the second-worst of the Riverdale seasons so far, season 5.
