Superman and Lois season 3 UK release updates: When does it come out on BBC?

Superman and Lois season 3 is currently entertaining US audiences but when can fans in the UK expect it to air on BBC and BBC iPlayer?

Superman and Lois is one of the biggest TV shows in the world right now. The superhero genre is running wild all over the entertainment scene and that’s definitely been true for television over the past decade. Spun out of The CW’s Arrowverse, Superman and Lois has become one of the best-received shows in the saga, and it’s easy to see why.

Starring Tyler Hoechlin as the Man of Steel and Elizabeth Tulloch as the indomitable reporter Lois Lane, the show gives us an in-depth look into what their lives are like after their happy ever after, seeing them battle bad guys, while juggling jobs and raising children.

UK audiences got to experience the grandeur of the show just over a year ago, when its pilot episode premiered on BBC One to 2.7 million viewers – a bigger premiere than its Stateside debut. Both its first and second seasons were broadcast weekly on the channel on Saturday evenings.

It was renewed for a third season, which has since debuted on The CW this year. It’s currently airing in the US, so if you’ve been hearing more about it over the in UK, that might be why. As for when you can expect it to air in the United Kingdom, here’s what we know.

Superman and Lois season 3 UK release date predictions

Superman and Lois season 3 will likely premiere in the UK in summer 2023. The reason for that is down to the simple fact that BBC One has aired both the first two seasons of the show after each of them have completed their US run on The CW.

This has been a practice by many UK broadcasters for years, but the thing that makes it more likely in the case of Superman and Lois is that BBC dropped the whole of the second season/series on the BBC iPlayer on the same day that the season 2 premiere aired on BBC One. It can’t do this with season 3 if it’s still airing in the US.

As the third season seemingly has an episode count of13 episodes, and it will likely take a break or two throughout its run, it will likely finish its debut run on The CW before the end of June. That’s when the second season finished airing on the network last year, and it premiered to UK audiences pretty soon afterwards. If season 3 follows suit, we could see it begin airing on BBC One in July or August 2023.

That’s just a prediction and, as always, it’s best to wait for official confirmation from BBC before expecting it, but it’s a release window worth bearing in mind.
