Fantastic Four: All 4 Mr. Fantastic actors ranked from worst to best
2. Ioan Gruffodd
The first actual big-budget studio adaptation of the Fantastic Four, again, had a lot of its own problems. I mean, Galactus as a cloud of smoke is quite laughable in and of itself and The Thing being the same height as everyone else was eye-rolling. However, Ioan Guffodd’s performance as Reed Richards was a standout. He did a great job with what he was given. Some of which were downright silly. He also looked the part, right down to the greying side of his hair.
He also gave some heart to the character in the two films in which he appeared. He just wanted to fix the mistake that he made in space that changed all of his friends and family into what they became. Not only that but he also showed a very important side of Reed.
He showed that there is a fine line between family and work for Richards, and at any given moment he could get lost in a project making you kind of wonder, which is really a priority in his life. His work or his family. Richards as a character is far more dynamic and complex than just being “The Stretchy One”. Guffodd tried his hardest to showcase that in his performance and that’s why he’s at number 2.
