Jon Bernthal might play The Punisher, but it’s easy to see why fans would love to see him as Wolverine via this stunning new image.
The idea of Wolverine coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one that has had fans talking from the moment Disney acquired 20th Century Fox.
Wolverine has been portrayed on the big screen by Hugh Jackman for almost two decades, and fans are eager to see him return in Deadpool 3; however, they’re also just as excited to see who will take on the iconic role in the MCU. There have been rumors and speculation about potential actors, with many fans hoping for someone who can capture the gruff and fierce nature of the character.
It’s unclear how Wolverine will be introduced into the MCU, but there are several theories. Some fans believe that he could be introduced through a multiverse storyline, with the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness potentially playing a role. Others speculate that he could be part of a new team of mutants, or even have his own solo film.
One thing is certain, the introduction of Wolverine will have a major impact on the MCU. He is a fan-favorite character with a rich history in the comics, and his inclusion will add a new level of depth and complexity to the existing roster of Marvel characters.
The MCU has a track record of doing justice to its characters and storylines, and fans are excited to see what they will do with Wolverine. While it will be sad to see Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the character come to an end, the possibilities of what the MCU can do with Wolverine are endless, and fans can’t wait to see what’s in store or who might take on the role.
What Jon Bernthal could look like as Wolverine in the MCU
There are many actors Marvel fans have expressed an interest in seeing play Wolverine in the MCU, including a man who is no stranger to the Marvel universe. We’re referring to The Punisher star Jon Bernthal, who is among the many actors whose names have been tossed out as dream picks to play the character. And while there’s no telling whether that dream might come, thanks to one talented digital artist who has provided us the chance to see the dream come to life!
In a stunning new piece of concept art from digital artist Samukarts, Bernthal is transformed into Wolverine complete with the character’s iconic super suit… no not that super suit.
Instead of pulling from the character’s iconic blue and yellow suit, Samukarts instead envisions Bernthal’s Wolverine through the lens of the Wolverine we met in X-Men: Evolution. Via the art, Bernthal suits up in the character’s iconic orange and black variant suit while rocking the character’s signature adamantium claws.
While perhaps not the suit many might have envisioned seeing Bernthal in when thinking of him in the role of Wolverine, the art does an incredible job of showcasing just how amazing he could be in the role if Marvel was to come calling.
Could Jon Bernthal play Wolverine in the MCU?
While it is ultimately up to the casting directors and filmmakers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to decide who will play Wolverine, Jon Bernthal could be a potential candidate for the role.
Sure Bernthal is best known for his role as Frank Castle aka the Punisher, in the Marvel Netflix series. He has proven that he has the acting chops to portray a gritty, no-nonsense character like Wolverine. He also has the physicality to pull off the role, with his muscular build and intense energy.
While Bernthal has proven he has the acting chops as well as the look to bring Wolverine to life, what could be the biggest factor working against him is the fact that he has played another iconic character in the MCU already. While we’ve seen actors play more than one character in the MCU in the past, they typically haven’t been actors who appeared in roles quite as large as that of a character who led his own series.
There are many other actors who have also been speculated as potential candidates for the role of Wolverine, such as Tom Hardy, Taron Egerton, and Scott Eastwood, among others. Ultimately, it will come down to who can best capture the essence of the character and bring their own unique spin to the role.
It’s worth noting that the casting of Wolverine has not been officially announced by Marvel Studios, so until then, any casting rumors or speculation should be taken with a grain of salt. Regardless of who is chosen, fans are excited to see Wolverine make his way into the MCU and see how he fits into the larger Marvel universe.
