Will The Mandalorian air a new bonus episode tonight? (April 26)
By Mark Lynch
Can Star Wars fans expect a new episode of The Mandalorian season 3 this week? What’s next for the show?
The most recent episode of The Mandalorian was the best episode of the series. This writer will go as far as to say it was *the* best television attached to Star Wars.
It wasn’t because there was a ton of action. It was because there was an incredible story told within that action. The story of father and son was clear when Din was willing to die to protect Grogu. Soon after that, it was the son protecting the father while they fought the Red Guard together.
As for what comes next, fans are going to have to wait it seems. The good news is that there should be more episodes of the series on the way.
Is The Mandalorian new tonight, April 26?
Unfortunately, there won’t be a new episode of The Mandalorian airing on Disney Plus this week. While Wednesdays are usually the days that fans can expect new episodes of the Star Wars show, the season has come to a close.
Last week’s powerful episode was the season 3 finale. The show has an episode count of eight episodes per season and the finale of season 3 was indeed the eighth.
Disney doesn’t mess around when it comes to their schedule. They know that bonus or surprise episodes wouldn’t necessarily work in their favor. Plus, a bonus episode would ruin a perfect ending. to the season
However, that is seemingly not the end for The Mandalorian.
The Mandalorian season 4 updates
The Mandalorian season 4 is seemingly a go. While Disney Plus has not yet made any kind of renewal announcement, creator Jon Favreau has revealed that the scripts for season 4 have already been written. There is no indication of when it could arrive, though, as production has not commenced.
That is good news for fans of the show hoping to see it return to Disney Plus. But it shouldn’t come as a surprise as The Mandalorian is one of the streaming service’s most successful shows. And there is plenty of room for the story to continue growing after the season 3 finale.
Din adopting Grogu was sweet. He was his father figure for the past few seasons, but now it’s official. Furthermore, Din deciding to take better jobs to raise Grogu right showed a lot of maturity within the character. Lastly, Din and Din Grogu have a plot of land, a place to live, and a home planet. Season 3 doesn’t need any more episodes. It would ruin a flawless end.
Fans may want more, but the wait for season 4 will be worth it. In the meantime, you can get more of the Star Wars world on Disney Plus when Ahsoka comes out this summer.
