8. Iron Man 2
It’s been so long since Iron Man 2 came out that I often forget this was Natasha Romanoff and Scarlett Johansson’s MCU debut. It’s not that Iron Man 2 and Romanoff’s involvement in the movie isn’t memorable (it is!), but it’s just more about how far Romanoff’s character and the MCU has come since then. Literally, so much has happened!
In Iron Man 2, Natasha Romanoff is Tony Stark’s assistant, but she’s actually a spy and international assassin working as an agent for SHIELD. We see Natasha and Tony team up to stop Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) in the movie.
Although Iron Man 2 is one of the lesser MCU movies we’ve seen so far, it’s important to remember what it did for the overall story. It introduced Natasha Romanoff, superspy, and allowed her to team up with Tony Stark. By the end of the movie, Tony also realizes the scope and responsibility of his powers. With Natasha’s SHIELD connections, this is the beginning of The Avengers.
Even with all that said, it’s still the worst of the MCU movies featuring Natasha Romanoff.
