6. Black Widow
Black Widow premiered in theaters in 2021, two years after Avengers: Endgame. The events of Black Widow actually take place before the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
Black Widow explores the long overdue origin story of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow. In the film, Natasha teams up with her sister, Yelena, to stop the Red Room, where she was trained as a spy and assassin, and General Dreykov.
The film also introduces key members of Natasha’s past, including Yelena (Florence Pugh) and Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour). Each of those characters will be featured in Thunderbolts.
Overall, Black Widow would have worked much better if it would have been released before Avengers: Infinity War. Although it brought a lot of closure for fans of Black Widow, it didn’t quite live up to the high bar set by some of the more recent MCU. Johansson is incredible, as usual, in the role, and the film features some of the best action and stunt sequences we’ve seen in the MCU so far. The film also sets up the events of upcoming MCU storylines, and it’s going to be super exciting to see how those storylines play out.
No. 5 on the list is Captain America: Civil War!
