5. Alex Aiono

Aquaman has been one of DC’s most iconic superheroes for over half a century, and while Jason Momoa brought a fresh, rugged look to the character, Alex Aiono could continue the role — in a different way.

Aiono may not be a household name, but he has been making waves in the entertainment industry for years. The singer-songwriter has a large following on social media and has released several successful singles, but what many people may not know is that he has also been dipping his toe into the world of acting.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin fans may know Aiono. Aside from that, he’s mostly been in a few smaller projects, but he has yet to make a big splash on the big screen. However, that could change if he were to land the role of Aquaman. Like Momoa, Aiono is of Polynesian descent, which could bring a fresh cultural perspective to the character.

Maybe Gunn and Safran would opt to age down Aquaman to help the longevity of the character on the big screen. Aiono, at 27 years old, could fit the bill perfectly. He has the youthful energy and good looks to appeal to a younger audience, while still possessing the charisma and talent to win over older fans.

As fans, there’s always hesitancy when it comes to an unknown actor taking on such an iconic role, but that is exactly what could make Aiono so perfect for the job. He has the potential to make the role his own, without any preconceived notions from audiences.

In the end, only time will tell who will take on the mantle of Aquaman next. But if James Gunn and Peter Safran are looking for a fresh face to bring a new perspective to the role, Alex Aiono is definitely worth considering.
