The penultimate episode of Titans was about the team coming together. Jason Todd helped Tim Drake become a better fighter. This way he would be helpful in the final fight in the series finale. Conner admitted he was wrong by trying to go it alone. Thankfully, Dick Grayson forgave him. Although, he may not have had a choice: The team needs Conner to help them with a weapon to kill Sebastian.

It turns out that Lex Luthor created a grenade-like orb that could take out a metahuman. The problem was it needed Starfire’s powers to be activated. Unfortunately, Dick cut power to the lab before Kory could give their weapon enough power: A mistake that becomes fatal. When Conner used it on Sebastian, he absorbed the energy and killed Conner. Now, Sebastian has gone full Brother Blood and it looks like Trigon is on his way and Starfire’s prophecy seems to be the only way to stop the destruction of Earth.

This episode of Titans should have determined what the season finale would look like. Instead, the future is unclear because everything has felt rushed. It’s as if the creative team wanted to develop the characters more but didn’t have enough time. For example, the storyline with Tim Drake and Jason Todd could have been its own episode. Instead, Tim became a great fighter in less than a day. This writer can suspend disbelief, but this was bad. There’s also Sebastian (Brother Blood). It took an entire season for him to get interesting. Meanwhile, Mother Mayhem has been great since her first appearance. Now viewers have to hope that the final episode is worth the wait.

The series finale of Titans on HBO is almost here. Four seasons of death, happiness, and growth come to an end in “Titans Forever”. An episode that will determine a few things.

First, was this show a success? A series finale can make or break a show (see Dexter for a bad conclusion). Granted, success could be subjective. Second, can this show be revived on another channel or streaming service? Even if everyone dies, there are other characters that can remake the team. And, if the fans want more, it could come back. Lastly, was the show cut too short? The series finale could show that Warner Bros/DC cut ties on this project too soon. We won’t know the answer to these questions until the end of the final episode.
