During X-Men: Fall of X, prepare to take a dive into Jean Grey’s past in her first solo series in years.

The mutants of Krakoa thought that Krakoa was going to be the beginning of something beautiful for their people. They were right. Mutants were finally given a home where they could exist and be free to live their lives.

If you’re a fan of the X-Men comic books, you knew there was a chance this wouldn’t last. That conclusion could begin during Fall of X. Marvel announced one of the X-Men’s greatest heroes will be hurt more than others. That hero is Jean Grey.

Coming out of X-Men: Fall of X will be a solo series starring the incomparable Jean Grey. During that series, readers will see crucial moments from Jean’s past. Jean’s first contact with the Phoenix Force and later meeting Madelyne Pryor will also be key to figuring out what’s going on with her. Hopefully it’ll also help save mutantkind. Marvel.com reports,

"“After the events of the Hellfire Gala, Jean’s life is in shambles. Mutantkind is in dire straits – and there’s nothing this founding X-Man can do. She’ll have to save herself first. And that means looking into her past – for the moment when it all went wrong – in a desperate attempt to save her and all Krakoa’s future!”"

One of comic’s greatest creators, Louise Simonson (X-Factor, New Mutants, and so much more) will be writing this important comic series. This writer can’t think of a better person to be in charge of a story going back to Jean’s past. Simonson showed her excitement for the project saying,

"“I loved writing X-FACTOR and Jean was a pivotal part of those stories, from the escape from her Phoenix-created cocoon to her life and death battle with the Goblin Queen in “Inferno.” So It’s really exciting to explore Jean’s part in this new mega-adventure,”-Louise Simonson"

Jean Grey has always been a heavy hitter and leader. Since Krakoa, she’s repeatedly proven that she’s elite at both. During X of Swords she led the final charge against their enemies. In Gerry Duggan’s X-Men, she defeated Nightmare twice with ease. A solo comic book run will highlight her immense power and skills even further. Having someone like Louise Simonson (who knows the character well) on-board solidifies this. Trust this writer when he says this will be a must read if you’re a fan of X-Titles. Especially with Krakoa possibly coming to an end.
