Marvel Comics’ Venom event will end with Knull and Carnage fighting over the title of King in Black. It could also lead to the end of all symbiotes. What can you expect from it?
Marvel Comics fans have been treated to a very symbiote-heavy universe in 2023. The Dark Web saga showed a change in Eddie Brock as Venom (now named Bedlam). Eddie’s son, Dylan Brock, is currently Venom with the classic look. He appeared in Moon Knight where they beat down four mercenaries looking to kidnap Dylan. In the pages of Deadpool, Carnage made a brief return by coming out of Wade’s body. There’s also Extreme Venomverse and Cult of Carnage Misery.
All of this is part of the Marvel Comics event Summer of Symbiotes. These aren’t the only events on the horizon. At the end of the summer, a new King in Black will be crowned as Knull fights the sociopath and serial killer, Carnage.
Marvel.com made it very clear in their news report, which reads: “Carnage has been building his powers up, extracting unique abilities from many villains throughout the Marvel Universe and now traverses the Multiverse with a singular goal: KILL ANY AND ALL VENOMS!” Cletus Kasady, a.k.a. Carnage, is bad enough. Making him more powerful is an even scarier thought.
There isn’t much in the article about Knull, but the image of the former King in Black on the cover tells a story. Knull’s holding what appears to be Carnage’s head. However, avid comic book readers know that titles of stories and covers can be misleading. The Death of the Venomverse could be metaphorical. Or, maybe it’s over for the symbiote race known as the Klyntars.
Marvel has been making changes to the comics over the years. Summer of Symbiotes could become another shift in an ever-changing universe.
Death of the Venomverse is scheduled to begin on August 2, 2023. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow for more news on how Marvel’s Summer of Symbiotes concludes.
What do you think will come out of Marvel Comics’ upcoming Death of the Venomverse? Are you looking forward to it?
