3. Jaws: The Revenge

For most people, this is the installment that ranks the worst on any list. It picks up with Martin Brody dead from a heart attack and his youngest son Sean dying from a shark attack while out on patrol as a police deputy.

When Michael comes back from the Bahamas where he was working as a marine biologist, his mother begs him to stop his work, fearing his demise at a great white thanks to get nightmares and the feeling of her family in constant danger. She heads back to the Bahamas with him and of course, the shark follows.

While the premise of a shark following a family from New England to the Bahamas is rather silly, this installment focuses more on the Brody family, which is the strength of the Jaws franchise. Something about a strong family unit against a force stronger than them can drive a film.

The film was panned by critics and audiences alike, but like Jaws 3D was still able to make its money back at the very least. As early as July of 2018, Spielberg had shown some interest in making a Jaws prequel that focuses on a younger Quint during the sinking of the USS Indianapolis in 1945, but right now, only time will tell.
