What time does Avatar 2 come out on Max?
Avatar 2 will also premiere on Max (formerly HBO Max) when it arrives on Disney Plus. Here’s what time you can expect it to premiere on the WarnerMedia streaming service.
It’s been half a year since Avatar: The Way of Water was released in movie theaters. Since then it has dominated the box office, going on to become the third-highest grossing movie of all time, just behind former champions Avengers: Endgame and the first Avatar movie. It has also enjoyed success on VOD services upon its digital release.
One thing is has not done yet is get released to streaming services. The movie, which fans thought might arrive on Disney Plus as early as February, has been absent from the streaming scene (presumably because of its theatrical success). However, that will all change this week, as the movie is set to make its streaming debut.
But there is a twist. While it will indeed make its presence felt on Disney Plus. It will also be released at the same time on Max (formerly known as HBO Max). If you’re watching on the latter service, here’s when you can expect it to premiere.
Avatar 2 HBO Max release date and time
Avatar: The Way of Water will be released on Max on Wednesday, June 7 2023, at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time for those watching on the West Coast, 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time for fans on the East Coast, and 2:00 a.m. Central Time for viewers on the Central Time zone.
The reason that the film is coming to both streaming services at once is a deal which 20th Century Fox had in place with HBO Max, whereby certain films would stream on that service. That deal included The Way of Water, so even though Disney purchased Fox years ago, the deal remains in place, meaning that it exists on both streamers.
Avatar 2 is the last movie in that deal, so Avatar 3 will likely be exclusive to Disney Plus.
