4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the third movie of the Transformers franchise. It was released in 2011, two years after Revenge of the Fallen. As mentioned, things get back on track a little bit in Dark of the Moon.
In the movie, it’s revealed that the moon landing in the 1960s was actually a mission to recover Transformer tech from the moon, which resulted in the Pillars discovery. The Pillars would give the Decepticons the ability to rebuild Cybertron, but Megatron and Co. want to use it for nefarious purposes on Earth. Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf), Optimus Prime, the Autobots, and parts of the US government and armed forces join the fray to stop Megatron.
While Dark of the Moon was much better than most of the Transformers movies, it still feels like something is missing with the story and its pacing. Overall, it’s an enjoyable action movie with incredible sequences and effects.
There’s no doubt Dark of the Moon was the best Transformers movie for seven years until Bumblebee was released in 2018.
