5. Richard

No one could blame Richard for wanting to fight back against The Saviors. However, once he made a plan to start a conflict by attacking The Saviors and framing Carol for it, he went from annoying to disliked really quickly.

It wasn’t enough for him to try to convince Ezekiel to fight back. He wanted to start a battle between the two communities, and he wanted to be a martyr and to kick off that battle by sacrificing himself.

It was a stupid and selfish plan that was more about making himself important than it was about trying to protect The Kingdom. Richard wanted to die, but he also wanted to die a hero.

After Daryl made it clear to Richard that he would suffer immensely if he went through with his plan to frame Carol, he switched his plan and hatched an elaborate plan to start a fight between The Saviors and The Kingdom by making Ezekiel and the others late for their drop and he hid one of the melons so the drop was short. His plan worked great until Jared shot Benjamin and Benjamin ended up dying instead of Richard.

Morgan killed Richard with his bare hands to try to keep the fragile peace between The Saviors and The Kingdom for a little while longer. So Richard ended up not accomplishing any of his goals and getting Benjamin killed before Morgan killed him. He deserved to die.
