5. Supernatural season 4

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that the first five seasons of Supernatural make up the top five of this list, but that’s just a testament to how epic those seasons were.

Kicking off the top five is season 4. The fourth season of Supernatural introduces a chilling arc as the demoness Lilith begins an ominous ritual, aiming to break the 66 seals to usher in the grand entrance of the infamous Lucifer. Amidst this dark foreshadowing, the story unveils a charismatic new ally in the form of Castiel, an angel who pulls Dean out of the clutches of Hell. As the Winchesters grapple with the daunting task of thwarting Lilith’s machinations, Castiel provides a beacon of celestial guidance, helping them navigate the precarious path ahead. And as Supernatural fans’ know, Misha Collins’ trenchcoat-wearing angel would become a major part of the show.

In a twist typical of the series, the Winchester brothers find themselves on the same side of the battlefield yet opposing in their ideologies. Dean, haunted by Sam’s flirtation with his darker side, struggles to steer his brother clear of the threatening shadows within. On the other hand, Sam, confident in his ability to harness his inherent darkness, views it as a necessary gamble to impede Lilith’s ascension. Despite their best efforts, they fall into Lilith’s intricate web, with Sam being manipulated by Ruby, Lilith’s secret ally. The season’s climax brings about a shiver-inducing revelation, as Lucifer, the prince of darkness, steps forth, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the Supernatural saga.

It was the beginning of the end.
