3. Supernatural season 1

Few television sagas match the trajectory of a long-running series during its freshman season. Yet, for Supernatural, its inaugural season stands as a radiant beacon, highly regarded by fans because of how darn strong the series started. This first complete narrative arc has etched itself into the annals of Supernatural lore, hailed as one of the series’ crowning achievements, a testament to its compelling storytelling and deft character development.

Supernatural‘s groundbreaking start featured an episodic format familiar with science fiction and supernatural shows at the time, offering up a new eerie entity every week for our charismatic duo, Sam and Dean, to tackle while on their quest to locate their estranged father. On that quest, they encounter Poltergeists, demons, and wendigos, just to name a few, but fans got to see as they went up against many of the monsters we’d all become familiar with throughout the show’s run.

Raised under the hardened gaze of a father who hunted all things supernatural, the brothers were torn along contrasting paths. Sam yearned for a life free from the chilling grasp of the hunt, whereas Dean eagerly stepped into their father’s shoes, adopting his relentless pursuit. Amid this ideological tug-of-war, their fraternal bond was severely tested. Yet, it was through this struggle that the brothers formed an unbreakable alliance, a deep-rooted bond that would fortify their relationship throughout the epic narrative of Supernatural.
