Melissa Benoist

There is nobody more commonly associated with the role of Supergirl than Melissa Benoist. That’s for good reason, as the incredible actress portrayed the character for six seasons in the CBS/CW series Supergirl, bringing Kara Zor-El’s story to life for 126 episodes.

There aren’t enough words to describe how joyous, uplifting, heartfelt, and triumphant Benoist’s portrayal of Supergirl was. You felt like she was an unstoppable hero capable of performing the most incredible feats, but you also felt like she was an inherently human person capable of bringing joy to those around her by just existing. Kara Danvers initially followed in her cousin’s footsteps but she very quickly became her own hero – and an incredibly inspiring one at that.

Nobody knows what it takes to play the Girl of Steel more than Melissa Benoist. She spent more time with the character than anyone else, and turned her back into a household name after a very long time off our screens. While she may be ready to move on from the role after playing it for six seasons, it would definitely be worth seeing if she were interested in donning the cape for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Melissa Benoist defined Supergirl for a whole generation, and she would be more than capable of doing it all again on the silver screen.
