12. Morlun

We all love a good multiversal adventure involving Spider-Man. Watching multiple versions of the wall crawler come together to face a common threat will never be short of spectacular. Fortunately, there have been many stories with this premise over the last few years, including Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and even Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions (a pretty amazing and underrated video game, if I may say).

However, one of the very first times a Spider-Man crossover was done on a big scale was in the Spider-Verse comic book run, a huge event that took place between 2014 and 2015. It proved to be so iconic and successful that it paved the way for many crossovers to come over the following years. So the question has to be asked: What threat was big enough to reunite many Spider-People for the first time in such a great magnitude? Who could prove to be such a lethal villain to the multiverse itself? Well, there’s a terrifying answer for that, and it is none other than Morlun.

Morlun is an Inheritor, a vampiric being who feeds on Spider-Men to survive. That’s his whole deal. For Morlun, there’s no end goal aside from staying alive, and if that means killing multiple Spider-People in the process, he’ll do so without a thought. That’s what makes him such a dangerous character and a serious threat to the Spider-Verse as a whole. Many versions of the wall crawler have tried to stop him on multiple occasions, and most have paid with their lives for doing so. He’s fast, strong, and will stop at nothing to taste spider blood.

Granted, Morlun isn’t as popular or well-known as other Spider-Man villains. He also hasn’t appeared in many stories aside from the Spider-Verse run. However, that doesn’t take from the fact he’s been a serious contender for Peter Parker (and many of his variants) over the years. It wouldn’t be surprising if Morlun eventually appears in a videogame or a live-action project. Until then, we can always read Spider-Geddon over and over with joy and see just how powerful Morlun is.
