2. Mystique and Destiny

X-Men fans know that Mystique and Destiny stand out as one of the most captivating and extraordinary couples in comic book history. The pair share a bond that transcends time and reality. After all, Mystique is dang near immortal. Anywho, this couple’s story is not only compelling for readers but also meaningful for the LGBTQ+ community.

Mystique and Destiny have an unconventional connection. Seriously, their relationship has been portrayed as romantic and intimate and has endured for decades, linked to mutant history. Their love story resonates with people from all backgrounds.

There’s an added element that resonates with queer parents. The couple ends up adopting Rogue and raising her, albeit in a somewhat sinister way. Underneath the manipulation and espionage that lead to Captain Marvel losing her powers, there’s a loving family.

We have no idea what the MCU has planned for the X-Men, but the time is ripe for Mystique and Destiny’s love to take center stage. Fox got it all wrong with their X-Men movie series, but Mystique and Destiny deserve their moment in the limelight, and by sharing their extraordinary relationship, we take a crucial step towards a more inclusive and compassionate world.

Their story has and will continue to resonate with audiences beyond the LGBTQ+ community. Love knows no boundaries, and the universal themes of acceptance, loyalty, and sacrifice found in Mystique and Destiny’s relationship would strike a chord with viewers from all walks of life. It would serve as a reminder that love, regardless of gender or identity, is a fundamental human experience deserving of celebration and respect.
