4. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

I had a pretty good idea where Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was going to land on the ranking of Indiana Jones movies before the movie premiered, and after watching the movie, it’s pretty clear that my hunch was correct.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the fourth best of the Indiana Jones movies. It’s definitely better than Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. While it’s better in some ways than the original Indiana Jones trilogy, there’s definitely something missing. It’s still Indiana Jones, and it feels like Indiana Jones, but it doesn’t feel like the original Indiana Jones. It hits the same beats, but that punch of adrenaline is lacking for me. I know that doesn’t totally make sense, but if you watch the movie, I think you’ll feel it, too.

In the movie, Indiana Jones, Helena Shaw, and Jürgen Voller, a Nazi scientist now working for NASA, are trying to find the Dial of Destiny, also known as the Archimedes Dial, which is believed to have the ability to enable time travel.
