Loki: All 7 Tom Hiddleston Marvel movies and shows ranked from worst to best

4. Loki
In Avengers: Endgame, when the Avengers go back in time to get the Infinity Stones to use in their Infinity Gauntlet, the version of Loki from that year manages to get his hands on the Tesseract. Instead of resurrecting the one that died in Avengers: Infinity War, which would cheapen the death of a character that already faked it once before, the show chooses to follow this alternate timeline version.
The series picks up shortly after that escape when Loki gets captured by Time Variance Authority, a peacekeeping organization dedicated to preserving time and maintaining the “Sacred Timeline,” which makes this Loki an anomaly. He gets taken to their headquarters, which exists outside space and time, to be judged.
After being interrogated by Agent Mobius and shown a reel of the main timeline version of his life, he’s recruited to help the agency hunt down a variant, who we learn is a female Loki. His new position leads him down a rabbit hole to unravel the conspiracy behind the TVA and the mysterious Time-Keepers.
Unlike the movies, having six episodes allowed us to go more in-depth about Loki’s history and better understand what makes him who he is. It also introduced us to Sylvie, the female variant who serves as a source of comparison and contrast, in addition to a romantic interest, to her male counterpart. His exchanges with her and Mobius are the standout scenes of the series.
The series ended up being one of the better projects of Phase 4 and not only allowed us to learn more about Loki but established many key concepts and terminology that would be important to keep in mind throughout the rest of the Multiverse Saga.
