The Twilight Saga: New Moon is the second movie of the Twilight franchise. It’s based on the second book of Stephanie Meyer’s series of the same name, and it premiered in theaters in 2009, a year after the first movie.
New Moon continues Bella’s journey and doubles down on the love triangle that started in the first movie. After Bella and Edward try to make it work, the Cullens realize have a human around them all of the time is dangerous for everyone. Edward breaks up with Bella, and they leave Forks. Bella is obviously heartbroken, and she begins to invest a lot of time in her relationship with Jacob, who actually turns out to be a werewolf.
In a lot of ways, New Moon is a good sequel. It progresses the story and brings in another great character in Jacob, and it explores the origins of the Quileute tribe and their abilities, which sets the stage for future conflict between the Cullens, vampires, and the werewolves.
With that said, it leaves a lot to be desired. Of the four stories in the Twilight books, it feels like this was just setting up the events to come in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and that’s why it’s No. 4 on the list of the Twilight movies.
