From the Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel to the anticipated The Marvels, Iman Vellani adds comic book writing to her repertoire with the new Ms. Marvel comic.
Ms. Marvel herself, Iman Vellani, makes headlines again for Marvel, this time in the comics corner of the medium. Vellani will be co-writing a new Ms. Marvel comic series.
Iman Vellani is really the embodiment of dreams coming true and anything can happen if you truly believe in and work for it. From fangirling Marvel in her real life she manifested herself into taking on the role of Marvel’s own fangirl in the hit Disney Plus original series Ms. Marvel.
Vellani sat down with Entertainment Weekly to share some inside on her latest venture into comic book writing for the new comic series titled Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant following the storyline from the Disney Plus series where it was revealed that the MCU Ms. Marvel is a mutant rather than an inhuman as she was originally written.
"“This was way scarier than joining the MCU for me,” Vellani tells EW. “Those projects feel like they live in their own dimension, so I guess I can separate myself easier. But you can hold a comic book! I’ve never written anything before in my entire life, but I have read many comics, so I just wrote what I would want to read. I was given a very professional tool to write what is essentially my own fan fiction.”"
Ms. Marvel made headlines in the comic book world when earlier this year when her death was the topic of Amazing Spider-Man #26. As this is Marvel, we know some deaths are not permanent as we will be seeing the character live on in this new series that will feature Iman Vellani as a writer alongside television writer Sabir Pirzada. The series is said to explore more of Kamala’s new mutant identity and will not hideaway her inhuman backstory either.
