Amazon Prime debuts the origin story for Atom Eve after announcing the release date for Invincible season 2.

Amazon Prime’s Invincible finally announced their return. Season 2 will return on November 3, 2023. It took a couple of years to get an update, but it was worth it. Not just because of the news of the show’s return or because it came with a trailer.

The biggest part of Invincible Day may have been swept under the rug and didn’t involve Mark Grayson. Amazon Prime released Atom Eve’s origin story debuted the same day as the season 2 news.

Like most great superheroes, the origin of Atom Eve comes with a lot of tragedy. Thankfully, the creative team did right by the character.

The most important part was the creative team being bold. They didn’t shy away from using the disturbing parts of Atom Eve’s beginning. It was sad, and brutal, and showed the awful parts that viewers needed to see.

Next, showing Samantha Eve Wilkins (Atom Eve) was always vastly intelligent was great. Her powers are too complex for just anyone to use. Adding this made her look even better. That leads to Eve doing things with powers that viewers haven’t seen yet. She’s way more powerful than she realizes. Eventually, fans will see that she’s among the most powerful characters in comics.

More Invincible spin-offs are coming

Everything mentioned above will come into play throughout the series. Now, instead of having to explain Eve’s origin in a halfhearted way, her story was done in detail. She deserves to be highlighted. The triumph of Invincible: Atom Eve opens the door for more characters from the Invincible Universe to get specials and maybe full-fledged spin-offs.

Capes, Guarding the Globe, and Tech Jacket are examples of comic books that could get shows or specials. There’s no reason to believe that Amazon wouldn’t put funds behind these projects. Each project would be fun for different reasons, puts a spotlight on the other characters, and will help connect characters to the main show.

The surprise paid off

The release of Invincible: Atom Eve being a surprise was risky. There was no guarantee that people would know it was available. Even if they did, would they make time to check it out? Thankfully, people watched and it’s getting good ratings from viewers. Now the promotional team is aware of how popular the show is.

It’s one thing to put out an Invincible, Omni-Man, or Viltrumite story. It’s another to do it with a character that isn’t the focal point. However, Atom Eve may have just proved that she’s just as popular as Mark Grayson. In a one-hour project, she showed more depth than the lead character.

It doesn’t matter who or why people watched Invincible: Atom Eve. The point is that they did. Thanks to the special’s release, the momentum leading into season 2 of Invincible is in motion months before it’s released and it won’t slow down any time soon.
