There’s an established universe in need of a Spider-Man

For better or for worse, Sony is continuing to build their Spider-Man-less universe. It started with Tom Hardy’s Venom, where we got the origin story of the alien symbiote attaching itself to Eddie Brock. For all the critics, there was a following that warranted a second film. It was another solid movie that featured Carnage, but again, no real connection to Spider-Man.

And then there was Morbius, a film based on the scientist vampire with a code starring Jared Leto. It wasn’t a box office success, nor did fans flock to theaters to see it. Still, we know that there is a Spider-Man in his world. We’re set to get two more Spider-Man universe films, with Kraven making his live-action debut, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing the hybrid killing machine.

Then there is Madam Web, with an all-star cast starring Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter, Isabela Merced as Spider-Girl, and Emma Watson as Mary Parker — yes, the wife of Peter Parker. Maybe in that universe, Peter Parker is dead.

Oh, and who remembers those reports of a Silver & Black film, that followed two more Spider-Man rogues, Silver Sable and Black Cat? No matter who Sony opts to bring to life, there shouldn’t be a universe where Spider-Man doesn’t exist. Now is the perfect time to introduce a Spider-Man into a world that needs a hero.
