The Boys’ spin-off Gen V premiers on September 29 and will debut on Amazon Prime with three episodes.
The popularity of The Boys on Amazon Prime keeps growing even after debuting in 2019. The characters continue to develop, the stories are intriguing, and every episode is unpredictable. This made everything involving the show and its characters intriguing. That’s where the spin-off Gen V comes in.
Fans were all in on Gen V before the first trailer came out. The idea of a school for superheroes run by Vought International is a crazy idea. Who wouldn’t want to see that? The first trailer gave fans a hint of what was coming. Then, the second one was released and it looks just as good as The Boys.
Gen V holds true to The Boys’ philosophy
Everything in the trailer for Gen V shows that it’s staying true to its parent show. The action is obviously there. One of the characters (Marie Moreau played by Jaz Sinclair) literally attacks people with her blood. In the trailer, she says she blew up a guy’s…gentleman parts with her abilities. That’s easily the highlight of the trailer. This kind of intense innovation gets people talking. The more people talk about it, the likelihood of new viewers will increase.
The second thing is the story.
Another big thing The Boys and Gen V provides is being different from other comic book projects. Bam Smack Pow writer Christopher Bohorquez said it best in their article, “Invincible and The Boys are important counter programming”:
"“The feeling of watching a new Marvel and DC film can be exhilarating, but their stakes can be non-existent simply knowing the main characters are going to return since it’s a cinematic universe.”"
People want to know that the consequences are real. It’s heartwarming when a hero comes back to life or doesn’t die. However, people have complained that the sense of worry isn’t there. The lack of threat hurts the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thankfully, you won’t have to worry about that with The Boys and Gen V.
Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow for more on Gen V as it comes out.
