After an off-the-wall start to Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, the third episode, “Hidden Inventory Part 3,” takes things up a whole notch.

What a rollercoaster ride of an episode!

We will discuss Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 3 in full detail below, so BEWARE OF SPOILERS!

The episode starts off with bounty hunters kidnapping the maid Kuroi, the only person Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel, considers family. This sets the stage for a rescue mission, with fan favorites Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo heading off to Okinawa. The tension is real. Even though they do have time for beach trips.

This episode delivers a breather to fans, unexpectedly. The stark contrast between the darkness of what’s happening and the sunny, colorful ambiance of Okinawa is slightly disarming. There are scenes complete with beach frolics and colorful attires that briefly had me wondering if I’d accidentally swapped over to a different anime.

It’s pure, unadulterated fun as

the

ever-so-perfect

Gojo and Geto and their ward take advantage of touristy activities after battling dark forces. If anyone could transform a perilous rescue mission into a breezy holiday, it has to be the

beautiful

powerful yet somewhat kind Gojo.

But that’s where the episode gets you. It lulls us into this false sense of happiness, with sunny complacency before pulling the rug out from under us. Without warning, things go south, and before we know it, we’re back in the sinister world of blood and violence. Did you forget you were watching Jujutsu Kaisen? Yeah, me too.

Episode 3 flexes its ability to tell the story, making it the best part of season 2 so far, in my opinion. The latter part of the episode introduces us to Toji Fushiguro. This contract killer, who is hellbent on neutralizing the Star Plasma Vessel, is chillingly unflinching. And believe me, with the kind of terrifying aura that Toji emanates, he’s an antagonist worthy of every gasp he’ll make you draw. I like it. (I do love me some good villains.)

This leaves us with a final question: Can

the perfect and embodiment of power that is

Gojo and Geto protect the sweet Amanai from all of this? It’s a scary thought, to be sure.

All said and done, episode 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is a whirlwind of emotions. With its mix of humor, horror, gore, and emotional moments, it’s a rollercoaster ride that will leave you breathlessly waiting for the next hair-raising drop.

I can’t wait to see what’s ahead when the fourth episode of this epic season drops July 27!
