1. Avengers: Infinity War

What an experience it is to watch Avengers: Infinity War for the very first time. From the moment the movie starts, there’s a sense of impending doom. Suddenly, every Marvel hero you know and love isn’t safe anymore. Anyone could meet their end at any point, and that’s a feeling that hasn’t been replicated in any other MCU project to date.

Watching fragmented groups of heroes try to beat Thanos on different fronts and with different plans felt desperate and disheartening. Everything was building towards an inevitable fate: the blip. And yet, when it happened, it was still shocking to see. Avengers: Infinity War is still unlike anything else Marvel has done for the better.

For the first time in over a decade, the MCU could stop worrying about setting thins up future projects. For example, Iron Man 2 was building toward The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron built tension between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers so that Captain America: Civil War could take place, and even that movie had the job to divide Earth’s Mightiest Heroes so that Thanos would succeed in Avengers: Infinity War. But while Infinity War was always planned as the first part of two different movies, it finally capitalized on the heavy lifting that previous projects had done up until that point.

As a result, Avengers: Infinity War was fast-paced. It never stopped in order to get viewers up to date on everything that came before it. While that could’ve resulted in confusing scenarios for newcomers to the MCU, it also rewarded long-time fans with a thrilling adventure that brought together almost every Marvel character in an organic way.

Long-awaited interactions finally came to be (like the Guardians of the Galaxy meeting Tony Stark) and amazing confrontations also took place (For example, the fight between Dr. Strange and Thanos). Besides, the battle of Wakanda was a spectacle to behold, even if it ended on a tragic note.

Avengers: Infinity War did justice to War Machine’s title, as James Rhodes himself acted as a one-man army that was able to take down many of Thanos’ forces without any help. Additionally, Rhodey also had great moments outside of the suit as well, like when he finally questions General Ross’ decision to go after Captain America and his allies, or when he made Bruce Banner bow in front of King T’Challa.

Even if they were small moments, the movie made sure every character got a chance to shine, and that’s one of the reasons Avengers: Infinity War is considered to be among the best MCU movies to date.
