We talk about and rank the three movies in the Stargate universe from worst to best.

Ah, the glory of the Stargate universe! One of the three franchises my adorable and awesome father brainwashed me with used to introduce me to the world of sci-fi at the ripe age of 5! Thanks, Dad! I hope you’re proud of the nerd I have become.

From weird ancient alien artifacts to interstellar escapades, the Stargate franchise takes us on fun and exciting journeys across time and space. We were introduced to iconic characters like Ra, Daniel Jackson, Jack O’Neil, and Teal’c, and because the world of sci-fi was primed for the taking, a cult-classic franchise was born.

Back in 1994, director Roland Emmerich threw us into uncharted territory with the original Stargate movie. With Kurt Russell and James Spader leading the charge, we were introduced to the Stargate gateway—a mysterious and very circular relic that unlocked the secrets of the universe. Fast forward to the realm of direct-to-video sequels with Stargate: Continuum and Stargate: The Ark of Truth. These movies brought back our favorite characters and continued the saga with a blend of time-travel shenanigans and solid conclusions.

Let’s journey through the Stargate movies, where every flick offers a unique narrative centering around the portal and what hell comes through it, ranking them from worst to best as we go down our list.
