Invincible’s Allen the Alien needs an Amazon Prime special like Atom Eve and here’s what the special should include.

After two years of waiting, season two of Invincible was finally announced. On November 3, 2023, the hit comic book adaptation will return to Amazon Prime. With the announcement came a trailer that included major news for the project’s sophomore season.

For example, there are 25 new voice actors joining the show. Popular performers like Tatiana Maslany and Peter Cullen. The biggest casting could be Sterling K. Brown playing Mark Grayson’s most obsessive enemy, Angstrom Levy. It was also shown that Omni-Man would be returning as well. Comic book fans knew this, but the casual fan may not.

The same day the season 2 announcement came out,  Amazon Prime did something brilliant. They released a special featuring Atom Eve’s origin story. This gave fans something to tide them over after years of waiting for something new.

Within the special, viewers got to see how she got her powers, who her mother really is, and how quickly she learned about her abilities. It was a nice look into one of Invincible’s most popular characters. This also proves that Amazon Prime shouldn’t stop with Atom Eve. Allen the Alien should get a special as well.

Allen the Alien’s story

Allen the Alien is an alien from the planet, Unopa. It was one of the planets that the Viltrumites conquered. Because they resisted, the Viltrumites left the beings of Unopa nearly extinct. The remaining Unopans left the planet in search of a new home. What they did to keep their race alive could be considered deplorable. They started breeding camps.

In an attempt to fight back against the Viltrumites, the Unopans joined the Coalition of Planets. One of the Unopans pitched started experiments to make future Unopans. The goal was to make Unopans strong enough to defeat the Viltrumites. This is how Allen the Alien was the only one to survive the experimentation without being deformed.

The first time Allen fought them, he was brutally beaten. This left Allen to become a representative of the Coalition of Planets. His job was to find planets that were strong enough to join them in the fight against the Viltrumites. This is how Allen first came across Earth and fought Omni-Man for the first time.

Invincible: Allen the Alien

The origin story of the Unopans and Allen the Alien was only four pages. However, seeing the stuff animated could last as long as Atom Eve’s special. Maybe longer. It doesn’t have to end there. In issue No. 23 of Invincible, Allen the Alien was beaten close to death by Viltrumites. It’s a brutal scene, but it’s crucial to the story for two reasons. First, this is where the Coalition of Planets finds out that someone is feeding the Viltrumites information. Second, Allen heals and becomes even stronger.

Allen’s story is too good and deep to only be discussed in a couple of scenes. What was mentioned above was only part of the story. There’s also Allen’s inability to openly date who he loves because Unopans can’t date outside of their race. A topic that a lot of viewers will relate to.

Another bonus is what the creative team can add to the story. They’ve already changed things from the source material and it’s worked out perfectly. With the success of Invincible: Atom Eve, there’s no way Amazon will miss the opportunity to capitalize on Allen’s story. Don’t be surprised if it happens in between season 2.
