The Flash gets surprising Max release update (August updates)
By Cody Schultz
Max has announced the streaming release date for The Flash and it seems DC fans will be able to stream The Flash movie much earlier than expected.
It’s been an interesting year for DC fans and it seems the unpredictable nature of the year has just thrown yet another curveball in the direction of fans.
Over the last several weeks, there have been many conversations about when The Flash movie might be coming to Max and making its streaming debut.
Given the film’s failures at the box office, it was predicted that Warner Bros. Discovery might not rush the movie to streaming in looking to make as much money as possible in On-Demand and physical release sales as possible following the movie’s disappointing box office performance.
When the Max August release slate was announced at the end of July, The Flash was not included in the list of August titles which seemed to hint that fans would have to wait until at least September for the movie to arrive on the streaming platform. However, the latest update from Max reveals the movie is coming sooner than many expected.
The Flash Max release date: When will The Flash be streaming?
The Flash will begin streaming on Max (formerly HBO Max) beginning on Friday, August 25! This puts the movie’s Max release date 70 days out from when the movie opened in theaters, with the movie coming to the streaming platform earlier than many had expected.
While the announcement is exciting for fans who have been looking forward to streaming The Flash movie on Max, it’s a bit puzzling for one major reason. The film’s August 25 release date puts only one week between The Flash‘s arrival on Max and Blue Beetle’s theatrical release.
Given how little promo Warner Bros. Discovery has been able to give Blue Beetle due to the ongoing strikes, one would think the studio would have preferred to put some space between the pair — especially when Blue Beetle‘s box office projections have been so low.
It’ll be interesting to see how both movies end up fairing, but DC is definitely looking to capitalize on the superhero space this month by giving fans both a new film to enjoy in theaters and a newer release to enjoy from the comfort of their homes on streaming.
