5. Darkseid

Darkseid is insanely strong. Having all that immense power might seem cool, but it doesn’t automatically make an interesting character. Nah, instead, it often lands characters in the “OP and bland” territory.

When it comes to Darkseid, the lack of motive makes him annoyingly bland. The intergalactic villain is the textbook definition of a “villain with power for the sake of it.” And yes, we get it, he’s the embodiment of tyranny, but really, why’s he so mad? His motives are all too often in the realm of mustache-twirling villains, and that’s just plain old lame. We’re left yearning for a layer of complexity, some depth beyond just being an omnipotent conqueror.

It’s his lack of relatable motivation that really throws us off. Sure, villains can be complex, but with Darkseid, it’s like trying to figure out why a storm’s ticked off – there’s just not much to grab onto. It’s hard to connect when you’re dealing with a character who’s more about ruling the universe and showing off his Omega Beams than anything else.

In a world where villains are becoming increasingly nuanced and multi-dimensional, Darkseid feels like a throwback to the one-dimensional baddies. With all that power, he could have been more than just a tyrant with a bad attitude.
