Doctor Who has had some incredible lead actors in recent years, each adding something new and unique to the Time Lord — but who is the best?
Since its inception in the 1960s, the BBC’s classic sci-fi series Doctor Who has become one of the best-loved TV franchises in history. The Doctor’s adventures throughout time and space in his iconic blue police box have captured the imagination of numerous generations, and it continues to do so.
At the turn of the century, the Doctor Who franchise was revived by Russell T. Davies, and it hasn’t looked back since. Naturally, when the refresh was announced, fans were apprehensive… but the concerns were short-lived. To date, ‘Nu-Who’ has aired well over 150 episodes across five main Doctors: Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, and Jodie Whittaker.
All of the Doctors from the modern era of Doctor Who are amazing in their own way, it’s so hard to rank them. They each have a certain uniqueness and individual quirks that make them special. Many consider it the impossible question — it’s definitely one Whovians would rather not ponder. But we all have our favorites nevertheless.
If we look at IMDb episode scores, David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor is the best ever. But looking at r/DoctorWho on Reddit, Peter Capaldi takes the top spot. Nobody can agree. Who do we have as the best? Let’s attempt to rank them from worst to best. Behold!
