Doctor Who: All 6 modern Doctors ranked from worst to best
By Ashley Hurst
1. David Tennant – The Tenth Doctor
From Allons-y to wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff — David Tennant’s Time Lord had his own set of classic catchphrases.
Okay, so this choice might not shock you. Tennant’s Doctor is widely considered to be the very best and his seasons represent the golden age of the modern Whoniverse. The writing, particularly from Russell T. Davies, was masterful and some of the best the franchise has ever seen. Tennant fought everyone: Daleks, Weeping Angels, the Master, Cybermen, and so on. Never once did the inclusion of his age-old enemies feel forced or unnecessary.
Throughout his three-season tenure (and also other cameos, such as the 50th Anniversary special and an episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures), Tennant embodied everything great about the Doctor. He was both incredibly fun to watch, while also providing the sucker punches necessary to hit fans right in the feels.
He had a host of great companions, from his emotional run with Rose Tyler to his partnership with Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), and of course his iconic and hilarious duo with Donna (Catherine Tate).
In fact, later this year Tennant will return to the franchise as the Fourteenth Doctor, where the show will address the unfinished story between the Doctor and Donna Noble.
There’s a reason why Tennant keeps returning to the franchise — everyone loves him!
Best episode/s: Blink, The End of Time, Human Nature/Family of Blood.
