Marvel Comics reveals that Apocalypse could help turn the tides against Orchis and Genesis in X-Men event Fall of X.

The X-Men event X of Swords concluded with En Sabah Nur, a.k.a. Apocalypse, leaving Krakoa and the Quiet Council.  He did this so he could be with his wife Genesis and children (the original Four Horsemen). That was almost three years ago. He didn’t return to comics until X-Men: Before The Fall: Heralds of Apocalypse. In this issue, readers see that En Sabah Nur and his wife aren’t on great terms.

"“Consider a rock battered by the ocean for a million years It is word–but whole. Is a rock noble? Can a rock be moral? A rock is there. As I was there. And this is the revelation as it was revealed to me. It is not enough only to be there. It is not enough to only be strong” – En Sabah Nur"

The couple argued about strength. He seemed to no longer believe that only the strong survive. Instead, he started to think about the deeper meaning of strength. If you know about Apocalypse, then you’re aware his philosophy has evolved (or mutated if you will). It’s no longer about only the strong surviving. Meanwhile, Genesis believes it’s about force and showing how powerful someone is. This leads to Genesis leaving for Arakko, working with Orchis, and starting a war with the mutants of the mutant planet.

In X-Men Red No. 14, a question was asked. Mutants wanted to know where Apocalypse was. He wouldn’t abandon his people in their time of need. CBR reported that Marvel’s November solicitation shows Apocalypse on the cover of X-Men Red No. 17. He’s right on time to fight his wife and her hoard.

Having a character on the cover of a comic book doesn’t always mean what we think it could mean. This could be a flashback issue. It may seem misleading, but stories from the past give insight into important characters. However, it’s more likely that he’s coming back to help Arakko. His new thoughts on life mirror Storm’s. Once he sees what she’s doing, there’s no way he won’t understand, right?

Storm has combined Apocalypse’s old and new mindset. She believes in strength and she knows that sometimes you must show how powerful you are. But it isn’t about flaunting what you can do to defeat or intimidate someone weaker. It’s about using your strength and abilities to protect those who can’t fight. Once En Sabah Nur sees that his new way of thinking manifesting on Arakko, he’ll tip the balance on the mutant planet’s civil war.
