Ahsoka: Sam Witwer stuns in “first look” image as Marrok

A new fan-made image provides us with a first look at who could be the person behind Marrok’s mask – Sam Witwer.

Do not lie: I was totally not the only one absolutely vibing with that amazing Sith Inquisitor-like character that blew us away with his fancy double red saber on the second episode of Ahsoka.

He looks awesome. He fights well. He’s a baddie, which automatically makes me like him even more. But… could he be someone we Star Wars fans are familiar with?

Actor Sam Witwer is credited in Ahsoka as providing “additional voices.” Why is that important? Witwer previously voiced the character of Galen Marek, aka Starkiller, in the 2008 video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Is Sam Witwer in Ahsoka?

I refuse to take the inclusion of Sam Witwer in the credits as something small. His prior involvement with the Star Wars universe thickens the mystery surrounding Marrok, and it’s worth asking whether Witwer’s role in Ahsoka could be more than just “additional voices.” Could he be reprising a character like Starkiller?

Theories about Marrok have been all over the radar. From Barriss Offee, a former Jedi apprentice and a close friend of Ahsoka Tano, to Ezra Bridger, the loyal Jedi Padawan, fans have been speculating tirelessly about who Marrok is. Now, knowing Witwer’s involvement raises the bar and makes it impossible to ignore the possibility that Marrok could be an adaptation or evolution of Galen Marek, better known as Starkiller.

Who is Starkiller?

In the Star Wars universe, Galen Marek, or Starkiller, is a complex character from the 2008 video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and its sequel, The Force Unleashed II. Or not – he could literally be a nobody and we’ve wasted all this time and energy playing detective for nothing. But hey, this is Star Wars we’re talking about – literally anything could happen.
