10. Resident Evil: Retribution

Probably the most stylish of the franchise but still forgettable to most would be Resident Evil: Retribution. The fifth film in the franchise was bonkers, to say the least.

A nonsensical plot that uses loads of outlandish action sequences, huge explosions, and zombies galore. This entry literally feels like watching someone play a video game, and although that may seem to excite some and drive them to this film series, it’s a definite turn-off for others. Anderson also decides to include a recap at the beginning of his Resident Evil films as though we were watching a TV series, “previously on Resident Evil” sort of speak which is hilarious but I guess it worked for his vision.

Retribution is a cheese fest but it knows what it’s doing and knows its intentions. There’s a fan base that lives for this type of film but generally, most audiences would just sigh and eye roll at the ridiculousness they’re seeing on screen, and if they have no knowledge of the games they may get the notion that this is what the popular video game franchise is like and they couldn’t be more far away from the truth unfortunately.
