A rollercoaster full of love, promotions, and betrayal – “It’s Like That” is quite possibly the most entertaining episode of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 and the entire series.

The sixth episode of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, “It’s Like That”, just served us an entrée of delicious young love, a main course of plot twists, and a dessert of intense mecha-fights that will leave you craving more. Trust me, you’re going to want to savor every moment. And that new intro song? I think I’ve listened to it about 5 times since I finished the episode.

I don’t think I ever laughed this hard during an episode of JJK before, either. The entire beginning of the episode is just… so painfully relatable.

Let’s get to the nitty-gritty of it, shall we?

SPOILER ALERT: I’m going to talk about everything that goes down in this episode of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2. You’ve been warned!

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 6 review

The episode kicks off with Megumi leaving Yuji and Nobara on their own. Yuji, in his ever-so-endearing manner, tries to talk Nobara into watching Earthworm Man 4. It’s… Seriously, Yuji, that’s your go-to movie pick? Nobara refuses to watch the movie, as she should, and leaves him on his own. If, at this point, you begin to wonder where the high stakes of the previous episodes have gone, don’t worry. They’re lurking right around the corner.

Meanwhile, Mei Mei and Ao Todo (BESTO FRIENDO) have an intense talk with Yoshinobu about promoting our favorite trio to Grade 1 sorcerers. They do this while playing ping-pong, as one does when discussing important matters, obviously.

Ah, Jujutsu Kaisen, you never fail to make the absurd look cool.

Anyway, enter Yuko Ozawa, Yuji’s former junior high acquaintance. Nobara, being her curious self, promptly involves Megumi in this romantic mission of hers to get Yuji to talk to Ozawa. I did find it interesting that Ozawa’s shadows were… seemingly shifting during her flashbacks. Maybe it was just for dramatics, maybe it means more than it seems. But back to the diner – the text conversations, the awkward questions about Yuji’s ‘type,’ and Nobara’s vow to snag a boyfriend before Yuji does adds a slice-of-life flavor to an otherwise intense series. The entire ordeal at the diner was hilarious, and the “it’s like that” phrases were very entertaining.

But, just when we think we can catch our breath, the episode shifts gears.

Suddenly, we’re talking about traitors. Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi are pulled into the mystery surrounding a supposed mole within the Kyoto school, and the tension is palpable. As Utahime leads them on this quest, the episode takes another leap – we’re suddenly thrown into a hideout where Getou and Mahito have less-than-pleasant plans for Kokichi, aka Mechamaru.

The stakes are high. The absolutely handsome Getou and my favorite villain, Mahito, plan to dispose of Kokichi after using him for their grand plans. The animators truly outdid themselves in this part – Mechamaru/Kokichi’s fight with Mahito is nothing short of visually stunning. It’s one of those moments where I sit back and think, “Wow, this show can literally do no wrong.”

With an episode so tightly packed, one of the high points is the reveal of Mechamaru as one of the suspected traitors. Given his Puppet Manipulation technique, it’s not entirely out of left field, but it’s still a twist that puts all his past interactions into new light.

As we’re left wondering whether Kokichi will turn out to be a hero or another tragic causality, he summons a colossal Mechamaru incantation, planning on getting out of there alive to spill the beans to

Gojo all about the Shibuya plan. And then the episode ends.

I had to look at the video tracker to make sure the episode was over – I guess time does fly when you’re having fun.

“It’s Like That” is a huge welcome back to our favorite trio – Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara – while setting up an epic showdown filled with betrayal and uncertainty. This episode has everything: from hilariously written lighthearted humor to intense confrontations, proving once again why Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the best anime out there.

Now, we must prepare for what’s next. Whether Kokichi defeats Mahito or ends up dead, one thing is for sure: Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will continue to keep us on the edge of our seats, gripping our hearts and souls till the very end.
