11. Livewire

One of the most electrifying villains in DC Comics didn’t even start out on the pages. Livewire burst onto the scene in Superman: The Animated Series, and quickly became a fan-favorite. Needless to say, she was cooler than the good ol’ farm boy, the beloved Man of Steel.

With Livewire, it’s all about that perfect blend of her loud vibrant personality and gritty style. Livewire snaps on everybody in a way that’s laugh-out-loud funny. She’s sassy with some amazing comebacks that bring a jolt of energy to every scene. She’s a villain who you’ll secretly cheer for, even when she’s giving Sups problems. And it’s all thanks to the legendary work of actress Lori Petty.

In her electrifying debut on Superman: The Animated Series, Livewire, originally Leslie Willis, started as a rebellious shock jock radio host known for her biting humor. Somehow her antics got her mixed up with Superman, and fate intervened. A bolt of lightning transformed her into the supercharged supervillain, Livewire.

DC took some liberty to update her origin story. Leslie Willis, aka Livewire, tried to pull off the ultimate prank by reprogramming Metropolis’ power grid to spell out something you’d never expect from a superhero show. A little mishap with electricity later, and she found herself with jaw-dropping electrokinetic powers and a villain we love to hate. Or maybe we just love because she’s more interesting than Superman. Shoutout to Brit Morgan who did an amazing job bringing her to life on Supergirl.
