7. Captain Cold

How could Captain Cold not be on this list, it’s in the name. He’s one of the coldest big bads in all of DC Comics. What sets Captain Cold aka Leonard Snart apart from the typical comic book villain is his strict code of honor and his unique gadgets, most notably his cold gun.

Snart is the cunning and intelligent leader of the Rogues, a group of criminals operating in Central City. Snart’s code of ethics, built around loyalty to his crew and a disdain for unnecessary destruction and violence sets him apart. Honestly, it makes him kind of likable.

Snart’s decision to leave his sister Lisa behind, shielding her from his criminal life, reveals a layer of nobility beneath his frosty exterior — see what I did there? This sense of responsibility adds a human element to an otherwise icy character. Another pun, I’m on fire, wrong pun, but you get it.

On silver-screen, Wentworth Miller’s portrayal of Captain Cold in the Arrowverse was, amazing. His smooth and cunning demeanor, combined with a laid-back yet commanding presence with enough charism made him feel real. Miller’s performance turned Captain Cold into a fan-favorite and so cool that the CW gave him a spin-off with Legends of Tomorrow.
