New combat system

The combat system in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will also be improved. A button to parry enemies’ attacks will be added, allowing for more variety than only having to dodge everything the enemies throw at you. Besides, new attacks will be featured thanks to Peter’s symbiote and Miles’ venom abilities. One example of this comes in the form of the Symtiote Surge, which is the equivalent of the rage mode in God of War. When the Symbiote Surge is activated, Peter will wreak absolute havoc and destroy anything that comes in his path (and yes, it looks as cool as it sounds).

Peter’s and Miles’ spider-sense will also have a slightly new feature, as there will be some attacks that players won’t be able to parry and those will be indicated through the spider-sense’s pop-up color. Some previews report the combat can be overwhelming at the beginning due to the amount of options it offers and all the different elements popping on the screen. However, it appears that with some practice it becomes easier to manage.

Besides, members of the press note that when they played the demo they didn’t go through the initial portion of the game, so no tutorials were given to them which could’ve made for a smoother experience.

The game will have over 65 suits

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature over 65 different suits in total for Miles Morales and Peter Parker and over 200 different suit variations. That will make for a crazy amount of customization available for players. Best of all, some fan-favorite suits will be included (like Tobey Maguire’s black suit from Spider-Man 3).

The reviews weren’t using a final build of the game

Even with all the positive buzz surrounding the game, it’s worth pointing out that previews weren’t made using a final build of the game. Some players reported that a few visual bugs occurred during their time playing the demo (which is normal for a six-month-old build of the game). However, we can expect the final version to be even more polished and maybe even to look better than what was recently shown.
