4. All across the universe, there wasn’t a planet suitable for the Skrulls

Secret Invasion, Nick Fury’s latest adventure, finally delivered on the promise of watching the Skrulls try to invade Earth no matter the cost. After all, when the Skrulls were first introduced in Captain Marvel they weren’t bad guys at all. Instead, they were portrayed as a vulnerable alien race that lost their home and was looking for a place to live.

In order to help them, Nick Fury and Carol Danvers promised they would look for a planet where the Skrulls could finally settle once and for all. However, things didn’t go as planned. After growing tired of waiting for Fury to deliver on his promise, a group of rebel Srkulls decided it was best for them to simply invade Earth and take it as their home. But what exactly happened? Why didn’t Fury look for a planet for the Skrulls to live? Well, turns out he did, except there were no suitable options.

Apparently, all across the universe, there wasn’t a single planet where Skrull life could blossom. Except Thanos found an empty world with enough resources to act as a farm. Additionally, that planet was close enough to Earth for the Avengers to go and hunt the Mad Titan down in a heartbeat. Speaking of which, even Carol Danvers went there, meaning she knew about the planet’s existence. Why wasn’t that the go-to option?

But let’s pretend for a moment that there isn’t a single planet in the whole universe suitable for Skrull life aside from Earth. Why don’t the Skrulls just live here? Well, Secret Invasion makes the argument that humans don’t have the tolerance necessary to share the planet with an alien species. However, New Asgard is settled in Norway, and all Asgardians live there, so that argument doesn’t hold any weight at all.

It doesn’t matter how you see it, this is one of those Marvel Cinematic Universe moments that just doesn’t make any sense.
