Throughout the years of Star Wars, we’ve fallen in love with a long list of characters and come to dislike plenty. Of course, the sci-fi mega-hit franchise is all about the Light Side of the Force vs the Dark Side, a.k.a. good vs. evil, providing viewers with several heroes and several villains. And even when we secretly love some of the bad guys (Darth Vader is one of the most iconic movie characters ever) we know that good must win in the end. And fortunately, it usually does in Star Wars.

Star Wars first launched in 1977 with A New Hope, following Luke Skywalker as he begins to learn the ways of the Force. The movie was an overnight success and has spawned multiple sequels, animated shows, and live-action series. It’s not a surprise that the franchise has made it into the top 10 highest-grossing movies of all time, with the first of the sequel trilogy, The Force Awakens, making a little over $2 billion dollars at the box office.

Since we’re so attached to this franchise and many of its characters, we’ve been heartbroken throughout the years of Star Wars movies and shows when some of our favorites are killed off. And it’s so satisfying when the worst of the worst villains are finally taken down. Needless to say, there’s a lot of emotion in Star Wars both onscreen and from fans watching from home.

If we had the power, which Star Wars characters would we bring back, and which would we leave dead? There are so many options to pick from, but let’s start with a select 10.

From the original trilogy trio to characters from the sequel trilogy series like Kylo Ren who meet their demise, here are our picks.
