Scarecrow strikes the first blow for supervillains against Batman and Catwoman during DC Comics Gotham War.

Catwoman had the brilliant idea to take away supervillains’ biggest resource. She took away their goons. Selina Kyle offered them training and a means to make money. While it’s not legal, it’s better than working for Two-Face and killing people. Of course, Batman took issue with that.

The Dark Knight believes a villain is always a villain. Shocking to no one, Red Hood disagreed. In fact, he’s working with Catwoman and wanted to help. However, in The Gotham War: Red Hood No. 1, readers find out that he’s assisting her under false pretenses. He’s training Catwoman’s henchmen to get information on Joker’s whereabouts.

Jason was killed by Joker (Batman: Death in the Family). After returning from the dead, Jason made it a point to try and kill Joker. Two of Selina’s trainees are former henchmen for the Clown Prince of Crime. Jason made it a point to single them out in hopes of getting the intel he needed. Unfortunately, they also henched for Scarecrow. Before the trainees can attempt their first theft, Jonathan Crane gets to one of them. After the mission, Jason finds one of them dead in his apartment. Above him was a message in blood that said, “Get your own toys, Red Hood.”

In Batman No. 137, eight of Gotham’s most dangerous villains met in secret. It appears that they’re working together to bring violent crime back to their city. Red Hood said he knew that Catwoman’s plan bad idea from the beginning. He understands that criminals like Black Mask and Pyg will return.

Now, they’ll have goons that are better trained. Once Catwoman’s trainees find out that one of their “classmates” has been killed, they’ll think it’s safer to work with their oppressors than against them.
