10 things nobody wants to admit about Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is without a doubt one of the best shows ever made, adapted from one of the most popular fantasy book series ever written. The HBO series based on George R.R. Martin’s vast world premiered in 2011 and captured the attention of TV lovers worldwide. With epic battle sequences, edge-of-your-seat political scheming, and unexpected twists in every season, there’s something for everyone with this story. It’s no surprise the show went on to become a total hit for HBO, remaining part of the pop culture conversation for years and years to come.

Martin is still working on completing his A Song of Ice and Fire book series (which Game of Thrones is based on), and while he’s actively writing The Winds of Winter, there’s no release date in sight. And after that, he has to write A Dream of Spring before the series is done. Who knows if we’ll ever see the end of his story, but at least we do have the HBO adaptation we can rewatch at any time.

10. Daenerys is still amazing, even considering season 8

Yes, I said it. I am very much a Daenerys Targaryen defender. While I don’t believe what she does in season 8 is right, I also don’t think it completely ruins her character. I blame the Game of Thrones writers, not her! Daenerys is the most inspirational character in both the books and the show, as she proves time and time again how passionate she is about ending oppression. She always puts innocent lives first…up until that fateful episode in season 8 when she burns down King’s Landing. It makes no sense for her character arc, I know. But we can’t just ignore all of the good she does before this.

Just take the season 3 finale, for example. “Mhysa” is one of the most impactful episodes for Daenerys as it sees her freeing the slaves of the city of Yunkai. The response is so unexpected for Dany, as they all look to her as their savior and call her “Mhysa,” which means “mother.” This is a huge moment for Daenerys and her cause, and episodes like this one seem to just be forgotten about by her haters.
