10 X-Men characters we need to see in the MCU
After years of waiting, the X-Men’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is imminent. There are some X-Men that the MCU should focus on immediately, and we’ve selected 10 X-Men that we need to see when the characters are in the MCU.
We have no idea when the X-Men will make their MCU debut, but we’ve been waiting forever. Comic book fans may be sitting on pins and needles when it comes to what Kevin Feige and his team will do with our favorite mutant universe. We know that the MCU has taken certain liberties with heroes, like Spider-Man. Despite the movies being fantastic, there was a sidekick and an extravagant feel to a hero that’s a bit more grounded. Still, we got some of the best Spider-Man movies from the MCU. We expect nothing less when it comes to the X-Men.
Here’s the thing, though; we need better characters, better development, better treatment. FOX wasn’t horrible, but it left a lot of meat on the bone. Fans saw for decades what could be and what never was. At least we got Wolverine, a lot of Wolverine. Meanwhile, there were some mutants that either got ignored or horribly misused. With the MCU taking over, we’re hoping they bring to life some of our favorite mutants—good guys or bad.
Feige and his team of unknown writers don’t need to overthink this. There’s a slew of characters destined to make their debut in the MCU. Not everyone needs to be in the first film. But the characters on this list should be locked onto the roster. There are a ton of characters who should and will be used. However, X-Men like Professor X, Magneto, Jean, Wolverine, Cyclops, and Beast among a few others won’t be included on this list.
Let’s get the list started with an old fan-favorite, Mystique.
10. Mystique
Yes, she’s kicking off the list of mutants we need to see in the MCU because, well, we do. Did we see a lot of her in the X-Men franchise? Yeah. The great Jennifer Lawrence played a character that looked like Mystique, in some ways she acted like Mystique. However, there was a lot of her story left out. For those of us who suffered through the initial depiction of a character who we love to hate. You remember Rebecca Romijn playing the role in the original X-Men trilogy. If you forgot, no one can blame you. She had an iconic scene, and that’s where it stopped. There was no depth, no connection to Rogue, and Nightcrawler, which if we’re being honest, well, that was another mishandled situation.
Kevin Feige and company have to restore Mystique’s greatness, and with her should be Destiny and Rogue. In the comics, the trio plays a major role in the downfall of Captain Marvel. Their story is a classic tale of a parent using their child for personal gain. Imagine extrapolating from stage moms using Mystique who pushes her daughter too far, and Destiny who warns her wife of the dangers to come. We could see the trio “kill off” Captain Marvel. Consequently, we’ll see the trio taking on the Avengers who will need the X-Men to help them take down Rogue. Speaking of…
